What a lovely evening celebrating women in politics last night with Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus - Berkshire Chapter at the beautiful Mount.
The numbers are still dismal. In 2017, only 19% of elected officials in congress are women. Of that 19%, only 36% are women of color (from: http://www.cawp.rutgers.edu/current-numbers). This is unacceptable. That is why it's so important for organizations like Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus to lead the charge of recruiting, training and electing qualified female candidates. #womenlead #mapoli #votemoon#moonforward1
There are two updates that I'd like to send along.
1) I am looking for some awesome Team Moon supporters to join me tomorrow for Third Thursday 7/20. The event is from 5-8. You'd cruise with me through all the fun events while wearing some Team Moon shirts/pins. Possibly hand out some palm cards.
2) Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser - On Tuesday, August 15th from 6:30-8:30, we will be partnering with Sabrina Chin and her team at Tavern at the A to host our second fundraiser. Salad and spaghetti will be served, and there will be a cash bar. Music to be determined... $25 suggested donations.
Please share come and bring your friends!
As always, thank you for believing in me, and partnering with me to move Pittsfield forward.

I had my first campaign fundraiser last night, and the gratitude I feel is overwhelming. When I stood up on stage and looked out at the crowd, the feeling of community and a sense of hope was undeniable. So thank you to each and every one of you who came, or sent their well wishes.
Additionally, I want to give a special thank you to Yuki Cohen for your generosity, the lovely space, and your awesome staff at Methuselah Bar and Lounge for working so hard to put on a great event. Thank you to my love, Brian and my in-laws Jim Huebner and Jan Paxton for all your help setting the event up, and keeping me grounded. Thank you to the ever talented Sarah Lee Guthrie for your beautiful music. And thank you to Mayor Linda M. Tyer and Barry Clairmont for your presence. And finally, thank you to my campaign manager, Darcie who keeps me inspired, and in check almost daily.
Pittsfield is a great place, but we can do strategic things to make it better. With critical thinking, good communication and collaboration, I will work hard to make Pittsfield a place that represents all of us. I know that I can't do that without the help and encouragement from each and every one of you. So again, my sincerest thanks to you all.
I had a great time introducing myself at the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus, Berkshires Chapter meeting this afternoon.
I'm honored to be at the table with former Senate Candidate Andrea Harrington, State Representatives Gail Cariddi and Tricia Farley Bouvier, Pittsfield City Council Ward 2 Candidate Dina Guiel, Adams Selectwoman candidate Cassie Witek and guest speaker, Executive Director of MWPC, Sarah McCarthy Welsh, my Campaign Manager, Darcie Sosa and so many other involved women from MWPC. I look forward to partnering with these amazing women to bring gender parity to the state legislature in Massachusetts.
